As we are now into December and the period of festivities has well and truly started, Somerset Road Safety is reminding drivers to avoid alcohol if they're intending to drive. The effects of a night out drinking can last well into the next day.
Avon and Somerset Constabulary have launched their Operation Tonic drink and drug driving campaign and are turning to the public to help them. Members of the public who see someone getting into a car after drinking should send a text message to 81819 containing the word 'drunk' and as much information as possible to help the police trace the driver.
Anyone who would like to report drink or drug driving to police can also call 101 if it is not imminent, for example a habitual drink-driver.
Remember - you don't have to be drunk to be a drink driver.
