Cycle Awareness courses are run alongside the new national programme. These courses are primarily run in schools with the help of volunteers and parents.
Somerset Road Safety delivers the New National Standard Cycle Training programme (Levels 1, 2 and 3) as part of its efforts to achieve casualty reduction targets. Bikeability provides an opportunity for cyclists to develop basic rider skills to cope with modern road conditions. The courses aim to provide a broader range of training for all ages, (Level 1 for children 8 years and under, Level 2 and 3 for students 9 years and above including teenagers and adults).
For further information on the course please see the Bikeability Website
Should you wsh Bikeability training for yourself or your children please contact your school, who will arrange it through Somerset Road Safety.
Somerset Road Safety has introduced a new cycle training resource pack developed by Devon County Council. This new individual self teaching cycle training pack ‘Fit 2 Ride’ aims to fill a gap where riders cannot access organised courses.
